About SNNU

Directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China, Shaanxi Normal University(SNNU) is one of the first “double first-class” universities. SNNU, located in the ancient capital city Xi’an, has two campuses, Chang'an campus and Yanta campus, which has been awarded the title of Enlightened Campus by the Ministry of Education and the Government of Shaanxi Province. Moreover, the first comprehensive education museum in China was built in SNNU.

SNNU is highly comprehensive and has a complete range of disciplines. It has established 26 schools. There are currently more than 2,000 full-time teachers and more than 30,000 students. SNNU has a collection of 4.16 million books and 139 various literature databases，and 80 thousands E-Journals.

It has established cooperative relations with more than 190 universities and educational institutions in 38 countries and regions. SNNU initiated the Silk Road Teacher Education Alliance and other related institutions, and has set up the Innovation & Practice Base for the Cultivation of Globally Competitive Talents, five Centers for International and Regional Studies. SNNU is one of the first testing centers of “Certificate for Bilingual Teachers Competency”.

The international students education of SNNU started from the year of 1964, and it has enrolled nearly 10,000 international students up to now.

About the Program

In order to implement the “Belt and Road Initiative” and attract more outstanding students from the Central Asian countries to study in Xi'an, the Xi'an Municipal Government has set up a Scholarship Program for the students from this region.

Duration：one year Chinese training+4 years undergraduate study

Start of school: September 2024

Scholarship Content: Scholarship students are expected to have entire funds for tuition, housing on campus, insurance premium, residence permit, physical examination, textbooks and will be granted￥18000/year for living. Air ticket cost between China and the country of nationality (economy class only) will be covered.

Note: All students are required to participate in the annual review, the scholarship of following academic year shall be comprehensively evaluated according to the student’s academic performance in the university.Those who fail the annual review will be suspended from the scholarship; those who have violated the rules and laws, or been disciplined by the school will be disqualified from the scholarship.

Application Qualifications

1. Applicants shall possess the nationality of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan, hold a valid passport, be friendly to China and in good health;

2. Applicants shall behave well, abide by discipline and law, be diligent and have no illegal or criminal record in home country;

3. Applicants must have obtained a degree equivalent to a Chinese senior high school and under the age of 25. The school of his/her nationality shall offer a recommendation letter;

4. Students who have been awarded other subsidized scholarships (excluding incentive scholarship) shall not apply this scholarship;

5. Applicants must have a certain knowledge of Chinese. After the completion of the preparatory study of Chinese, students are required to pass the HSK 4 exam.

5. Transcript;

6. Certificate of non-criminal record in home country with Chinese translation version;

7. English recommendation letter from his/her school;

8. Chinese learning certificate (if any);

9. Other materials that can support your qualification (if any);

Note: The above application materials shall be in Chinese/English. If they are in other languages, Chinese/English translations shall be provided and notarized.

Application Procedure

1.  Application

Log on the Online Registration System of Shaanxi Normal University (website: http://snnu.17gz.org/ ）, fill in the application information, select the Xi'an Municipal Government Scholarship project, and upload the required materials to the system.

2. Conditional admission

After preliminary examination, interview and comprehensive assessment, the University will submit the list of candidates to Xi'an Municipal Education Bureau.

3. Final-admission

Xi'an Municipal Education Bureau will review the candidates and determine the final admission list.
